Andrew Barnett

Hi, I’m Andrew Barnett, and my cardmates call me Drew. I was born and raised in Gore, New Zealand. After living overseas, I currently reside in Invercargill, New Zealand. My PDGA number is 149651, and I started playing disc golf in 2020. My local club is Disc Golf South, where we have the beautiful, family-friendly Queens Park Disc Golf Course, as well as the DGS & QPGC Championship Course.

My personal best finishes both occurred in 2024. I claimed second place in the MA40+ division at the 2024 ILT Southern Smash in Invercargill. Then, at the inaugural Rip ‘N’ Dip one-day event in Dipton, I secured first place in the MA40+ division. My proudest disc golf moment aligns with my career; as a primary school teacher, it is fantastic to introduce a diverse range of students to disc golf. There is nothing better than witnessing the excitement of a new player throwing into the chains from around 15 metres and seeing them realise how much they are improving with every throw. For 2025, I aim to continue enhancing my personal game while promoting the quality and sustainability of Ocean Discs. I also hope to encourage my students to teach their families how to play this wonderful game, leading to more quality family time in nature.

Thank you to Ocean Discs, Small Planet Disc Sports, and NZDSS for this exciting opportunity. A massive shout-out must also go to my other sponsors. MSK Medical Imaging in Invercargill has supported me since the beginning of my disc golfing journey. I would also like to thank Eran at Small Planet Disc Sports in Queenstown for being part of Team Small Planet Disc Sports.
